A leading Indian FMCG company needed an intelligent and automated system to identify factors impacting sales force attrition and to predict which employees are likely to quit within the Sales team. The focus for the initial analysis was the India Sales team which comprises both direct company employees and contractors from a third-party vendor
Over 150 data points were analyzed to identify factors impacting attrition. Employee details such as age, experience, location, grade, performance, compensation, attendance and reporting managers were considered along with distributor details such as size, type of business, years of association and performance. Machine learning models were created to predict attrition risk for active employees. The models achieved an accuracy of 80% in predicting high-risk attrition and overall attrition prediction accuracy of 62% on test data.
